Thera are up to 5 hideouts at any one time and about twice as many possible locations. If you wait a while, the hideouts will be revealed automatically. They will appear as black dots on the mini-map. You can find a list of pirates in Chronicle - List of known pirates.

Locations: - West of New Orleans - Between Vera Cruz and Villa Hermosa - Slightly northeast of Grand Bahama - Slightly Southeast of Port of Spain - Slightly south of Havana - Southeast of Roatan - Between Guadeloupe and Martinique - Others Attacking pirate hideouts is almost the same as attacking a town by sea. To attack a hideout, select a convoy with escort ships and right-click on a hideout. You don't need to check 'Attack towns' since you aren't going to dock in the hideout. If there are any defending pirate convoys, you will have to defeat those.

You can't see what types of ships are in them until you start a battle, but you can left-click on a hideout to see how many of them there are. If there are multiple defending convoys, you will have to defeat each one in turn. You don't need to sink any of them-forcing them to retreat is enough. Unlike military convoys in towns, pirate convoys in hideouts are always repairing and always defending.

You can't put them out of commission by doing a small amount of damage and running away. Pirate convoys can also immediately and fully replace their sailors between battles. After you get through the defending convoys, you have to deal with harbor cannons. Hideouts have up to 10 cannons. You can see how many they have by left-clicking on them.

Harbor cannons in hideouts are usually arranged in patterns resembling triangles or semi-circles. They are more spread out than they are in towns, so they should be easier to deal with.

If you retreat from this part of the attack, any cannons that were damaged but not destroyed will be instantly and fully repaired. If you retreat from the attack on the cannons, you won't lose any ships (unless some have already sunk). You don't need to command each ship to retreat, either. Just have your current ship do so and wait a few seconds. Your convoy will appear outside the hideout. When you're done with the cannons, you will have to win a duel. This duel is the same as any other duel.

See the 'Duels' section for more information. If you lose the duel, your convoy will retreat. The hideout will have 1 cannon and will attempt to construct more. If you win the duel, the hideout is destroyed. Your relationship with all nations will improve and you will loot some money from the hideout.

The amount of money you receive depends on the strength of the pirate. A 10-cannon hideout that's been around for a while might yield a few million gold.

A new hideout that has 1 cannon might yield 200K gold. After some time, another pirate and another hideout will appear somewhere in the Caribbean, but you'll have a few months of peace before that. If the pirate had any convoys when you destroyed the hideout, you will receive a message informing you that some ships escaped and may set up a new hideout. This doesn't mean much because new hideouts will appear anyway.

The only difference is that the pirate will have the same name. Sent by technition. Best way to farm a town First get the biggest ship as you can afford. Then buy 500 heavy cannon balls. Then find a town with less then or equal to two defence cannons.

This is easy when using two of the 'In The Line' ships with full cannons to ensure a victory. The accuracy bonus also helps.

If you get challenged to a dual, mainly use defence then go for these following moves. Left shoulder, Left knee, Right shoulder, head, stoumgh, right knee, then defence until you reach full blue in the bar and repeat until the captain surrenders. Easy Money: Every time you go to a town save your game and then go to the inn and play the game with the one armed guy. Bet the highest amount of money you can. Keep loading your game until you win and then save it and move on to the next town. Also if you bet 1000 gold. Sent by technition. Hints on attacking by land When you attack by land, your sailors land on the beach and become soldiers.

If you want as many soldiers as possible, attack using a convoy with 10 Ships of the Line. Each one holds 200, for a total of 2,000 soldiers. The town will have two sets of gates, each one guarded by approximately half of the town's soldiers. You need to destroy one of them. You don't have to kill any defenders, but your soldiers will usually attack them instead of the gates if they're close. Note that you need 1 musket or cutlass for every soldier you plan to send in.

Also, if your soldiers are killed, you lose their weapons. Immediately after your attack, some of the killed defenders will be replaced.

Brute force This is the fast but costly method. If you have a lot more soldiers than the town, you don't need good tactics to win.

The default split between swordsmen and musketeers, 50/50, works well here. Select all of your soldiers and double-right-click on the nearest gate. Then fast-forward until you win. Ambush A minor tactic that gives you a small advantage.

Hide your soldiers in trees close to a gate. Then double-right-click on a gate or on defenders to rush in and attack. Hiding in trees You can hide your musketeers in trees near a gate. Port Royale 2: Cartels Construction & Conquest - Walkthrough ParanoidX (paranoidx2 hotmail com) Port Royale 2 (PC) FAQ version 0.1 Port Royale 2 FAQ version 0.1 by ParanoidX (15th Nov 2004) Foreword: I love this game for it reminds me of the good old days of Commodore 64 pirates where free -play is what its all about. I have now played the game for almost a month non- stop and I always return back to it. It has its flaws, but hey, which classic don't??! My first game on Port Royale 2 was free-play mode and I haven't tried the scenarios since I want the longevity because I'm now a hard core pirate freak. I must admit that I haven't played simulators/adventure for a while (over 2 years) and since I touched this game there was no turning back. I think it’s the substance that this game has and today game's lack. I am quite frankly feed up with shooter this and action that.

Come-on, where's all the good plot, story line, most importantly GAME-PLAY!!! Graphics is NOT everything!!! OK, enough of this lets get on with it. Firstly, I would like to point out for those “don’t read anything” people, inside your game folder there is a Manual directory and obviously the manual is in there (READ IT!!!). ABBREVIATION - feed up with typing long words over and over again. Military Convoy M.C Trader Convoy T.C Letter of Marque LoM MY SETTINGS - Nation: Dutch (Holland) Starting Town: Turk Island Feature: Accuracy Special: Ships Game Speed is always on 0.1x and I use the speed 100x (Default: Space Bar, I assign to 0 on the numpad) Its obvious once you play for a while.

If you choose 1x or more you will find yourself in a very panic mode and you often make mistakes. Unless of coarse if you choose to play as a trader then maybe its your best bet to play at 1x or 5x since you don’t have enemies except pirates (which is quite rare). My Military Convoy: 2 x military corvette (from France) Captain: 5 3 2 and the best is 5 5 3 I started off by 1 x military corvette and 1 x military frigate because my LoM with France didn’t last long enough plus their M.C was being smashed by the English. My Trade Convoy: 10 x English Ship of Line (move stuff around and get those sunken treasures) 4 x Ship of Line (Automatic Trader) Captain: 1 2 5 and best is 1 5 5 I actually hated trading.

Lots of work for little returns but it is a must if you want warehouse and gain cash at peaceful times. With 40 x M.C each with 240 crew and over 80 Ship of Line with no crew to maintain its compulsory!! NATION LIST - 4 nations sorted in level of Power/amount of town 1. Spanish 30 2. English 14 3.

Holland (Dutch) 7 Depending on the level of difficulty and/or the nation you choose to start with your beginning governor town is provided in according to your choice therefore I’m not going to tell you that. Instead, I will give you the overview of the difference. Depending on your style of play that is Trader or Conqueror. Personally I’m a conqueror. So my obvious choice was Dutch because it’s the weakest. So I can often expect nations will declare war on Dutch often hence I can grab my LoM and onto battle I go. But understand that during the game you can switch between the 2 styles so once you get bored of fighting simply return to trader life by paying the nation you caused havoc with and they usually charge in accordance to the amount of damage you incurred minimum couple of hundreds of thousands maxing at 3 million.

Artmoney Port Royale 2 Walkthrough

So make sure you get your moneys worth before doing so or else you would loose profit. And who says there is no winners in war.hehe Bear in mind that you HAVE to go to the VICEROY of that nation. VICEROY TOWN AND GOVERNOR - Here’s a list given that you haven’t kicked him out of the default one. Below is the Governor’s Town for that nation. Spanish: Port Royale -Vera Cruz -Belize -Cartegena -Havana -Margarita English: Guadeloupe -San Juan French: Biloxi -St Augustine Holland: Grand Bahamas -Turk Island All other town is quite simply suppliers of raw materials and sub-towns. During the game you will often have to either return to or have a chat with the governors or their daughters possibly wife (hehe).

So remember these towns well. Governors are far more involve than Viceroy when it comes down to providing missions. Viceroy simply gives you with a LoM and off you go. Only to return back to him if you want to capture a town from the enemy provided you smash their M.C to WEAK status under Nation (size and strength) tab.

The way the game is structured is once you gain the LoM from the Viceroy you can start to smash the enemy’s convoy without causing the other nations to treat you as a pirate. The consequence of being a pirate is that all nations become hostile to you and quite simply you can’t sell your loot including your captured ships. And having a whole heap of ships with nothing to do is not going to be nice on your balance sheet (just ask your accountant).

So bare in mind that before attacking any ships that you have a LoM from the viceroy else you declare yourself a pirate. If you want to rectify yourself with the nation you will have to pay. Personally I only attack if I have the LoM, no matter how tempting it is. CAPTURING A TOWN - Once you eliminate the enemies M.C to weak, check through the Nation (Ships and Strength) tab.

You can then speak to the Viceroy to grant you permission to capture an enemy town. Understand that once you capture an enemy town, the M.C of that nation will return to STRONG. Unless if it has lots of towns like Spanish whereby every town I captured it increased by 6. Since Spanish has 30 towns to begin with, and after I destroyed all of their M.C. Having 6 M.C to defend 29 town will still remain as weak. One other condition you have to fulfill either by waiting (not recommended) or by giving your own Viceroy a set of M.C (5 ships) and 150 cannons. Simply capture an enemy convoy and give it to your Viceroy.

Royale

Note that the captain that you assign to the M.C will be lost. Usually I return to a town where I have a warehouse: 1. Separate the 5 ships from my own 2. Dump 150 cannons into my warehouse 3. Hire any captain from the pub 4.

Compose a new convoy with the 5 ships M.C 5. Dump the 150 cannons from the warehouse into the new convoy So no crew!!

Send the convoy to my Viceroy and hand it over to him. The reason you have to do this is because if you were to go straight into the viceroy town and you don’t have a warehouse there, you will have to sell your cannons and then buy it back! Losing at minimum $48000 for no apparent reason (this is what I hate most about this game). In real life I could easily unload the cargo onto the wharf and then transfer it back onto the ship but its no hassle once you build a warehouse in the Viceroy town. Every town you capture depending on the strength of the nation your LoM comes from, there might be a waiting period of 15 days.

The reason is there are circumstance where you don’t have to wait, like if the nation has 5 town and has 10 M.C. After gaining a new town it has 6 towns and 10 M.C hence it still remains strong and you can immediately capture another town for them.

Normally there is just enough M.C to cover the town to strong which is 3 M.C more. So lets say the nation has 8 towns it will have 11 M.C which is consider as strong. But once you capture a new town for them it will be 9 towns and 11 M.C which is normal, so until the nation has 12 M.C. Either by waiting or you give it to them. In regards to waiting, I can’t be sure for I haven’t waited but its between 15-30 days (which can be a very long time). You can NEVER eliminate ANY nation!! So don’t bother.

Once you gain the LoM for the first time you can attack any Viceroy/Governor town. For nations other than Spanish, where they have only 1 Governor and Viceroy after you attack either, you cannot attack the remaining town. Since I attack Biloxi (French Viceroy), he moved into St Augustine which was the Governor’s town so the French don’t have a Governor anymore until I make friends with him and get him one. Usually I will smash a nation to about 2 towns left and then make friends with them and gain the LoM for the nation I was fighting for.

Port Royale 2 Guide

Another thing is that the less town the nation has the more military convoy it will retain. After I smashed Spain until 3 towns left, it immediately got 10 military convoys.

Of coarse it won’t pop out in one hit, but it will gradually come from Europe. So as long as you guard these points you will get them before they can find their home town and HIDE. The way I play is that I will annex all but 2 of the enemies town and after they retain the status to strong such that of 2 towns and 10 M.C I will look for their Viceroy and pay them 3 mils and gain the LoM and start fighting for them and repeat. In doing so, I also gain new towns for myself. Here’s the sequence: Town Capturing primary reward sequence 1.

Defeat 2 towns; get a new town of 5 choices, each nation can give you 5 towns 2. Defeat another 2 towns; 50% more land of that town 3. Defeat another 2 towns; 75% more land of that town 4. Defeat another 2 towns; the rest of the town If like me you continue to get towns for them. It will then be: Town Capturing secondary reward sequence 1. Get another new town of 4 choices 2.

Get another town; 50% more land 2. Get another town; 75% more land 2. Get another town; rest of the land. This only happens if you are still fighting the already weaken nation. So in my scenario I was smashing English all the way for the Dutch.

Port Royale 2

When I changed to fight French for the Dutch, it returns back to the primary sequence and henceforth if your fighting for another nation. If the nation you fight for has 2 nation as their enemy and they are both WEAK then it would simply alternate. So you speak to the viceroy once, you get one, get out and talk to him again you get the other. When capturing a town, you have 2 choice. Either by land or Sea.

In my opinion LAND is WAY WAY WAY easier. As long as u have enough cutlass for you crew you simply click on attack on their guards and press the 100x speed and you will win FOR SURE!!! By sea, you have to destroy the cannon towers which can be quite a gamble consider you need the wind to work with you. The only wind you can fight with against those towers is when the wind is blowing towards the towers. Else you will be in deep trouble. Its better to get out and come back in hoping the wind is to your favor.

Align yourself aiming at the tower. Listen to the sound. As soon as the tower fires. Shift a little beside the left/right consider if you are coming down to the towers, the shot will miss you for sure but the wind have to be with you. Once the shot is missed, aim back towards the towers once your close change to the direction where you are with the wind, fire your shot, wait. The merck manual of geriatrics 3rd edition.

As soon as the tower fires a second shot, quickly aim back the direction opposite the towers. On a average 5 tower town you will need at max 3 x military corvette or military frigate or pirate barque (for its agility) and nothing else. You will have to fight towers if you are to attack a pirate town. They will have 2 towers unless you leave it for a long time then it will accumulate to 10 max. O (your ship) A./ B. C. / wind direction HAS to be) X X X X X X A.

If the wind is South South West then I will do the left hand side towers B. If it’s Southerly, then it doesn’t matter which one first. If its South South Easterly then right hand side towers Obviously the wind directions will change. But 80% you will be able to get rid of the whole of 1 side before having to leave.

But don’t hesitate to get out and return. The wind has to favor you unless you want to bring a whole bunch of military frigate and pretty much play melee style. If so, stop reading and find a wall to smash your head into. This strategy you will always get 2.5 towers per military frigate/corvette unless u bungle up badly then get out regroup and fight another day. Your ships will have to be.
